For this pair of roomy workers trousers inspired by Erminigildo Zegna SS2023 collection, I used Rundschau pattern construction method. Based on the measurements of pants my son likes, I was able to modify the pattern to create more voluminous trousers. I added purely ornamental seams in the front and oversized rectangular patch pockets in the […]

Windbreaker in New York

We went on a family trip to New York City over the Easter holidays. For the occasion, I made a windbreaker for Alexei (14). I drafted the pattern with the help of the Rundschau system (система Мюллера по журналам Ателье). The style was loosely based on several Moncler coats. The materials came from fabricville.com, who […]
Corduroy cargo pants

These were a quick sew black corduroy cargo pants for Alexei. The ones I made last winter wore out. I used the automatic pattern drafting service from portnoyblog.com, chinos pattern. Made an elastic waist and added cargo side pockets. Nothing extraordinary, but a very good cost per wear ratio. Alexei loves these corduroy cargo pants!
Japanese pattern book shirt

This project was born out of abundance of narrow whale black corduroy I picked up at the remnants sale in Fabricville. Great fabric, great colour, great value. Does it lead to a great garment? It was my first time using a Japanese pattern book (French edition). The instructions are thorough and easy to follow, from […]
Prada inspired corduroy overshirt

What do you do with a roll of narrow whale black corduroy? Shirts of course! But not any kind of shirts. You take your inspiration from the best in the world, people like Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, who head Milanese luxury brand Prada. For the festive season the duo proposed several menswear silhouettes, but […]
Burda 6440 Urban Safari Dress

It’s the time for the long-awaited cruise season. It’s the time to explore, stroll the old streets and soak in the sun. This time, however, we (Maya and I) decided to do it virtually, browsing through the photos snapped during our last Italian adventure. Inspired, and preparing for hopeful upcoming travel season, we wanted to […]
Emerald A-line Burda Dress

In October 2019 I have excepted Burdastyle.ru’s Instagram sew-along challenge. I had to complete any Burda pattern dress in 4 weeks, posting my progress and the final result. Materials My better half was asking for a warm dress and she pulled out emerald wool serge I bought some time ago at Value Village. I had […]
Christine’s Dressing Gown

Our good friends Christine and Berney (that Berney who received a me-made bath robe earlier in the year) were planning to leave on a cruise vacation. To celebrate the occasion, we thought of gifting her with a “perfect” morning dressing gown — semi-sheer, sensual, light. And yes, the project had to be mailed in 2 […]
Prada FW19 inspired Nylon Coat

This fall I had to replace my jacket of 18 years. I needed something to stand up to the winds and rain, and be long enough to wear over blazers. My inspiration came from Prada’s 2019 fall menswear, look 31: a nylon jacket (a Prada thing), mid-thigh length, with trendy oversized patch pockets, and lots […]
White jersey jacket à la Claire Shaeffer

This project was long time coming. I purchased the fabrics in Fabricville over the years, then in 2018 I did a blog post for Fabricville featuring Claire Shaeffer’s jacket pattern. And then it all came together – the fabrics, the patterns, the mood. First of all, I simplified the pattern and eliminated the pockets. Second, […]
